Table for Two gives two people a reason to spend time together differently. For 90 minutes, you get to step into something neither of you has to be good at, follow your curiosity, surprise each other and see what happens when you have more to share than the usual plans.
There is something special about experiencing something for the first time with someone you already know. Choose prompts for each other. Try the typewriters side by side. Exchange a few words without saying them aloud. Laugh at what comes out differently than you imagined. Take turns, compare, respond, and let one moment lead naturally into the next. It gives you something to do together while still leaving plenty of room to simply enjoy being together.
Share Something New
The person sitting across from you may be someone you have known for years, or someone you are still getting to know. A question you would not normally ask, a memory one of you brings up, something unexpectedly written down or a small surprise exchanged across the table can open up a side of each other that everyday plans do not always make room for. You may leave knowing one another a little differently than when you arrived, with the experience belonging entirely to the two of you.
Discover Another Side of Each Other
From choosing the occasion to taking your seats, each Table for Two is arranged around the two of you so the experience feels personal from the start.
Book it for a date, a birthday, an anniversary, a friendship, a surprise or simply because you want to spend quality time together in a different way. Share your preferred date and anything you would like us to know about the occasion when you enquire.

Select from our curated list of Nairobi restaurants and hotels or suggest a suitable setting of your own. Your date begins with a welcome drink, followed by the 90-minute Poetry O’Clock experience. At our curated venues, dining follows the session, with food and additional beverages ordered and paid for directly with the venue.

Your Poetry O’Clock setup will be ready before you arrive. We welcome you with your drink, introduce you to the experience and the materials, and guide you through how everything works. Once you are comfortable, we step back and give you the space to settle into the moment together, while remaining nearby whenever you need us.

From there, follow what feels interesting to you both. Explore the typewriters, choose prompts for each other, talk, create, surprise each other or let one moment lead into the next. The experience is yours to enjoy together.
Everything you need for the experience is waiting when you arrive. Come as you are, take your seats and enjoy what has been prepared for you both.
Two manual typewriters are set at the table, giving you each one to explore throughout the session. Type side by side, respond to each other, work on something of your own or swap pages along the way. You do not need any experience with a typewriter. We will show you everything you need to begin.
Quill pens, writing paper, typewriter paper, envelopes, wax seals and stamps are prepared for you to use throughout the experience. Move between them however you like. The pleasure is in trying things with your hands, taking your time and seeing what the two of you create with what is on the table.
You do not need to arrive knowing what to say or make. A selection of prompts is available to spark conversation, memories, playful exchanges and unexpected directions. Choose together, pick for each other or leave them untouched if the two of you already know where you want to begin.
Your experience begins with a welcome drink for each of you as we introduce the table, the materials and how everything works. Once you are comfortable, we give you space to enjoy the experience together while remaining nearby whenever you need us.
Everything you need to know before booking Table for Two.
Table for Two is designed for any two people who would like to spend quality time together in a different way.
Come with your partner, best friend, sibling, parent, relative or someone you simply want more time with. Book it for a birthday, anniversary, friendship, milestone, surprise or simply because an ordinary day deserves something special too.
You can also book Table for Two as a gift for another pair. Let us know when enquiring and we can coordinate the experience with you accordingly.
Not at all. You do not need writing experience, and there is no expectation to produce anything perfect.
Table for Two is created for the two of you to experience the Poetry O’Clock materials yourselves. You will have your own typewriters, quill pens, papers, envelopes, wax seals and prompts to explore throughout the session.
Poetry O’Clock poets do not write poems for you as part of Table for Two. Our hosts introduce you to the experience, show you how everything works and remain nearby if you need help.
Your date begins with a welcome drink while we introduce you to Table for Two and the materials prepared for you.
From there, the 90 minutes belong to the two of you. Choose prompts for each other, type side by side, write by hand, revisit a shared memory, surprise each other with something personal, experiment with wax sealing or simply follow wherever the experience takes you.
There is no fixed programme you have to complete. Our hosts remain nearby when needed while giving you the space to enjoy the time together.
Your Table for Two booking covers one private 90-minute experience for two guests.
It includes:
Food, additional beverages and any other venue charges are separate.
A welcome drink for each guest is included in your Table for Two booking.
When booking at one of our curated restaurants or hotels, dining forms part of the occasion. Your 90-minute Poetry O’Clock session takes place first, and once the writing materials have been cleared, you continue your time together with food, drinks or other selections from the venue.
Your meal and any additional beverages are ordered and paid for directly with the restaurant or hotel and are separate from your Table for Two booking.
Keeping the dining portion after the session gives you space to enjoy the typewriters, papers, quill pens and wax sealing materials comfortably before the table transitions into dining.
You can choose from Poetry O’Clock’s curated selection of restaurants and hotels within Nairobi that can comfortably accommodate the experience.
You are also welcome to suggest another venue you have in mind. Before confirming the booking, we will check that the space is suitable for the typewriters, materials, setup and level of privacy required, and that the venue is comfortable accommodating the experience.
Table for Two can also be arranged outside Nairobi. These bookings are discussed individually, with travel, transport and any additional logistical costs quoted separately as part of your final booking details.
All client-suggested venues are subject to approval before the date is secured.
Table for Two should be booked at least two weeks before your preferred date so we have enough time to coordinate the venue and prepare the experience around your booking.
Your date is secured once the date, venue and experience details have been confirmed and full payment has been received. Sending an enquiry alone does not reserve a date.
If your plans change:
Any approved rescheduled experience must take place within three months of the original booking date and remains subject to availability.
Yes. If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, friendship, milestone, surprise or another occasion, tell us when you enquire.
Where appropriate, we can shape prompts or small details around the reason for your booking while still leaving the experience open enough for the two of you to make it your own.
Any requests requiring additional materials, sourcing or customisation will be discussed and quoted separately before your booking is confirmed.
Yes. Anything you write during Table for Two belongs to you.
You are never required to read your writing aloud, explain it to us or share it with the person you came with. You decide what remains private and what you would like to exchange.
Our hosts are there to support the experience and materials while respecting the privacy of your time together.
We will also not photograph or record your writing or identifiable personal moments without your permission.
Table for Two is intentionally created for two guests. The setup, materials and flow of the experience are prepared around one pair, so each Table for Two booking is exclusively for two guests.
Additional guests cannot be added to the session.
