About Poetry O'Clock

Poetry O’Clock is a live poetry practice rooted in presence, time and tangible exchange.

It creates moments of pause within contemporary gatherings, through live typewritten poems, correspondence by post and shared reading and writing sessions. Each encounter begins with conversation and unfolds in real time, shaped by attention rather than urgency.

Poetry O’Clock works across events, mailed correspondence and printed matter. Every offering is designed to hold attention gently, favouring depth over spectacle and care over speed.

Why It Was Founded

Poetry O’Clock was founded in response to a growing sense that language had begun to lose its weight. Messages move quickly. Writing is shared before it settles. Words circulate, but rarely linger. Poetry O’Clock was created to restore a different relationship with language, one shaped by time, attention and presence.

By returning poetry to the page, the hand and the moment, the practice creates space for reflection, intimacy and genuine human exchange.
